Apple will hold it's anual event on September 7 in Cupertino, the company announced. There is little doubt we will see a new iPhone at the event, but we could see a few other products too. Regardless of what else is announced, Appple will want to the focus on iPhone. What happens when you take pictures of your naked toddler for your doctor and those pictures get uploaded to the cloud. One unfortunate father found out. Dave and I are back talking about how useless Siri is, this time with setting timers—now it can't even do that reliably.

What is the most popular social media platform and how much should we trust them? That's one of the topics on this week's podcast. We also talk about Daring Fireball's anniversary and Apple showing ads on its iCloud platform even though you may pay for it. Dave and I also play the Notable People game, which almost derailed the podcast entirely.

Google is whining again about the green bubbles in Apple's Messages and the fact that the two systems don't work well together. Google wants Apple to give up its superior system and adopt a less secure system. Thanks to a listener of last week's show we have some more information about Passkeys and what it will mean for users going forward.

Siri had a strange quirk this week that Dave found (of course, Dave found it) involving Danny DeVito. There are a few UI changes in iOS that have been discovered—Dave and I talk about one in particular in the music player. Adam Engst wrote an intereesting article about finding a mobile power source for his Mac, and Dave and I discuss Passkeys replacing passwords.
